Need some help from mod veterans...

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have been modding for a year now and wanted to have a playthrough like Gophers. When I open the game (4gb enabler) it asks to install, I do not need to however, and after all my reinstalls and fnvediting, I have to use NVSE, this is only one of my problems sadly.... When I use NVSE to open the game, whilst playing I experiance random crashes, infinite loading screens, and LARGE stutters (2-3 frames of 60). Another problem is when I use OHud, UIO, UHP, and DARNUI, everything works accept my compass is just a small dot and bracket.

I know it is a lot of problems but I really need some help.

Here is my load order by the way.

First off, are you using New Vegas Stutter Remover and New Vegas Anti Crash? These greatly improve performance and stability. What are your system specs and graphical settings? UHP is not necessary when using UIO, uninstall it. Are you using Mod Organiser or NMM? Have you sorted your load order using LOOT? You seem quite new to the modding scene, did you follow any "modding guides" when setting up your game? Finally, you should probably research Merged and Bashed patches, because they can both improve compatibility and shorten your load order. You should always use TTW compatible mods when playing TTW, a list can be found here.

I am using both NVSR and NVAC. The reason I used UHP was because I actually got a prompt to install it when loading the game, I have no idea how. I am using a mixture of FOMM and NMM. I have sorted the load order and made sure to click apply at the top. I followed Gophers tutorial on fnvedit and already made a merged patch, but it still had a ton of red in it.

Here are my specs.

Intel i5 6600k

Nvidia GTX 970

8gb ram

Windows 10 home

Gopher's guide is very outdated, you should look up a guide that's more up to date, like EssArrBee's Fear and Loathing in New Vegas or my very own guide that I was just about to update. As for your framerate problems, you should go to your NVIDIA control panel, then check your global 3D settings and change them so that your NVIDIA GPU is set as default (Win10 has a bad habit of setting the integrated GPU instead). I also strongly recommend you switch to Mod Organiser for your mod management, it's considerably better than the other managers. Also, use OneTweak for fake fullscreen, that should solve your ILS problems. Finally, download and install 4GB Fallout: New Vegas Updated, I think your issue is being caused by the old version.

Alright, most of my problems have been fixed, thanks for that, I went to a few buggy places, went in and out of doors, opened my pip boy a bunch, and went around talking to people. But the compass not showing up problem still persists.
