Modding using Vortex possible?

I'm a total noob but

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but a while ago I bought Fallout 3 game of the year edition on Steam. I have played the base game a long time ago, and I had moded the game before Nexus mod manager and Vortex. I’d like to use Vortex again to mod it, rather than Fallout mod manager, simply because my experience with Modding using that, is taking out the folders and putting them in appropriate places.

Like a YouTuber had said, Vortex makes things easy, and I had read that someone managed to get Fallout 3 mods to work using that. I do want to keep it simple but I tried to use a CBB mod using vortex, but it didn’t work. Is there any specific way? In using FMM and doing it the old way, all i got was the black markings glitch. I apologize for any annoyance i might cause with this posting

I haven't modded Fallout 3 in years but it is the same procedure as Fallout NV. Vortex makes it fairly straight forward.

Gopher has a series on using Vortex.

CBBE is not available for Fallout 3 but Nexus has quite a number of body models for Fallout 3.

Try:   https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/4280/

Make sure you only install Fallout 3 mods on a Fallout 3 game.

Hello OutandBack

I was able to get the game to play by downloading the live thingy, as well as putting the game in compatibility mode which can be set for XP, vista I think, and windows 7. I was able to go in and walk around, I hadn’t tried shooting raiders but I did get myself to after I leave the vault.

Cryzeteur, I just checked my vortex and I had been mistaken, I downloaded the Alice as well as the diminized type 3 AIO,  the alice wasn’t installed though.

Hi Davrehck, welcome to the forum.

I have not been able to get Fallout 3 or GOY to work with Windows 10.

Even a clean install with no mods.

Have you been able to play the newly installed game with no mods?

Actually I tried and failed to get Fallout 3 to install under Win11-Dev-Insider version, but I assumed it was because my beta version of Win 11 is a bit odd and quirky.
