Hello, Multigk Here! So I feel like a lot of people wanna hang out, and have activities for groups to do together. Some Minions have tried to make this happen over in The Crossroads and has for the most part failed as an endeavor. There is too much history, nostalgia, and the crossroads was never well planned to be something like this in the first place.\ And so this forum is to gather minions together in the enterprise of making a new PLACE (not sure what kind of place) for us to hang, chat, have fun, and do other things. The Purposes of this topic/forum are as follows: 1) To agree on where this place should be, and to plan it out together, this place is to be planned and built with the intention of being a place TO GATHER with others. 2) To discuss what should be at this place: There have been many suggestions, I mainly want this place to be a common/meeting place, others have suggested a theme park, a trading area, even an arena. These are all good ideas, but I'm not sure they are absolutely NEEDED for this to work. 3) To discuss if we even need this, I really do think a meeting place, made for meeting from the start and well planned and what not could be a benefit to the server. 4) I might add reasons in the future as needed after further discussion. Also I may tag people if they would like this? Not sure. Concepts so far: (These depend upon individual interest. and more may or may not be added.) The Meeting Area itself Nether Portal/Slipstream Access (Though I don't think most people use slipstream) (Of Course) (Thanks Starling for the nether idea.) "Build Parks" (A term from Bunyun, basically places anyone can build at any time, that anyone can edit) Parkour Building Competition Area (Think "Build Wars", with an area for a crowd to watch, and big blank areas for building in said competitions) Potentially a Dynamic PVP Arena (Shifting ground, water, Cover..... explosions!) Rented Exhibition Space (A managed space, that you can rent for a period of time to build, each build will be altered after each rent cycle so the space stays dynamic.) Potential King of the Ladder (Minigame) Potential Elytra Course ... STRAWPOLL!!! LET US KNOW WHAT YOU LIKE, THINK, OR WANT! http://www.strawpoll.me/13644119
I'd like to preface this thread with a disclaimer that this is not an attempt to rile people up, nor is it a place for people to simply complain about what they don't like the admins doing. The server belongs to Gopher and all should respect our Dark Lord's authority and that of his Administration. This is merely a place to discuss what people like and dislike about the /tpa command before it was removed, and what they think now that it has been removed from the server. With that out of the way, I'd like to say what I thought about /tpa. I liked it. /tpa allowed me to show off my hard work and my accomplishments in-game to the other residents of the server, whether they lived nearby or not. It allowed for easy trades when and where they were needed. You live 10000 blocks away from anywhere dogs spawn? That's fine, because somebody just found some and is letting people come and tame them. You just finished a build that's miles and miles of nether-distance away from anyone? That's fine, because when people hear you've done something cool, they can come see it without worrying about it taking hours and them or you having to leave before they even get there. You're building in the sky and just ran out of blocks? That's fine, because someone has a bucket of water for you so you can glide safely down. You see something weird and want to show off your find? Go ahead, people can be there in a jiffy! Now when somebody makes something cool, they have to hoof it there, up to 15000 blocks at worst from spawn. They might be oceans away, oceans of LAVA if you're talking Nether Distance, and building a bridge over that when you're online almost always results if getting lagged off because of a small instance of block lag. Have fun drowning in lava because you wanted a path to your new build. Granted, it isn't immersive to simply teleport everywhere, and it makes distance seem a bit cheap. In singleplayer immersive games like Skyrim, I, like Gopher and several others, do not use Fast Travel. In my D&D campaign, I spend a lot of time preparing a journey for them, not just their destination. But with the vast amount of people on the server, and the vast distances between them, I'd rather the distance be devalued than my hard work on my build be devalued. If you don't live near spawn, few people aside from neighbors, if you have any, will care enough about your build to trek thousands of blocks to it. The only reason anyone will ever see my builds is because I built a three-thousand block railway in the nether to reach it. That took a very long time and a lot of resources. Still though, the minecarts are too slow for people's liking, and it would still take a long time to get there. So nobody wants to see it. So my overall experience with /tpa has been positive, and my experience with its removal has been negative. What about the rest of you? What did you like about /tpa? What did you dislike about it? Are there other alternatives you might suggest, such as warps, or perhaps some plugin or server mod that allows one to build teleportation devices?
