  1. Yeehaw.....rooted in the misconceived combining of the words Gee and Haw, which are traditional voice commands for Right and Left, as used by 'teamsters' ie wagon drivers, some cowboys, and dog sleds to this day. I have no idea what commands are used in Norway, but there are undoubtedly similar Voice commands in use today. The incorrect interpretation into the singular yeehaw has however become a thing over time, used by cowboy/country 'wannabees', promoted by writters and film for a century. Similar distortions are the stacks of wood on hilltops in the Southwest that 'scholars' deem to have religious significance, when really it is there because stashing wood on a hilltop in the direct Sun and wind is a good way to have dry firewood when you need it in a nomadic/ semi nomadic culture. Or all of the museum's around the world displaying grooved arrow shafts that are labeled as ' blood grooves'. Reality is that the shafts were grooved to increase effective surface area for heat-tempering, resulting in much more consistent and stable arrows. I could go on and on, but will stop this little lesson in history that nobody cares about......
  2. Well I listened carefully, trying to distinguish and issolate the noise you were hearing....when I realized it was not something in the background, but rather all of it as a whole. Gopher, you were listening to the sound of the North American Midwest. Common field crickets and brown locusts. From mid May to mid September that is the soundtrack of nature here, usually supplemented with a few cicada drones....and *roughly* every 7th year there is a major cicada hatch that is so loud it is like aural warfare.
  3. I've been using the "Red" subscription since it was available in the US. A+ for the most part, but remember to download from your home network if mobile data is limited. The few ways I used prior no longer work anyhow, so unfortunately no suggestions there.
  4. DX12 also has an explicit-multi-adapter feature that will allow an sli/crossfire like combination of graphics processors, including onboard. It is supposed to even allow for mixing amd and nvidia cards at the same time. It does need to be enabled by developers though, and not many have yet. I wonder if this will work with pascal, which still has locked bios and drivers.
  5. Well I was messing around with photo-shop and thought these might be worth doing. they're not the greatest things but are 1920x1080 and don't look too horrible on a monitor that isn't huge. I'm putting links as well because I don't think the 'insert image from url' is going to work. https://www.flickr.com/photos/146120046@N05/28422886153/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/146120046@N05/28422888643/in/dateposted-public/
  6. Coming soon.....Project Quantum

  7. Sorry, video didn't work.....hmm
  8. Well I wrote a long description of my various listening preferences and the reasoning behind them, but really that is pointless. So, here are a few songs from groups I listen to when the right mood strikes. A nice light mood. Wild flag- are just playful and make me laugh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J8n9R8rnB8 Betty Blowtorch- You'll laugh too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5tg5JLClpo Spinnerette- same thing, playful and Brody is genuinely an awesome person https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4GosE8lUzs Veruca Salt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPsQcB52V18 Be your own pet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DF2SlDPTCw PJ Harvey- I don't like all her songs but regardless of that she has a voice that melts my soul. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkS_R7RDuMc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QySwGXrpHzw
  9. Well I apparently like building PCs. I was getting the 'itch' to update mine, or rather make it more visually appealing, but instead tried to quench the desire by building both my sister and my dad new computers in the last month. They're happy but I still want to do mine.....

It was originally going to be a swap of hardware into a Corsair 900d with custom cables and a Radiator setup like  'Red Mist' or 'Skunkworks'......they're google-able.

But now I have a Rampage V Edition 10 MB, radiators, extra pump/res, memory,.....basically enough parts that I need to decide if I want to take the plunge and just build a whole new PC. It is totally a waste of money.....

Right now I am using a corsair 450d, asus X99 deluxe, 5930K@4.5ghz, and 2 Maxwell titan X. Dual loops and a white/black theme. New one would be a mix of Satin/flat black with a light UV blue, or at least that is what I am envisioning Atm.

    Any thoughts?

Other than giving you my address  in case you want somewhere to ship your old computer not really :) I do hope if you decide to do the visual upgrade you post some before and after pics.

  10. Nice...... Shipping is high through Fed Ex, UPS, DHL.....but USPS flat-rate international is not bad at all in comparison. It is reliable too, albeit slow.
  11. Oh, the dangers of the internet and why I typically refrain from getting involved. I put my part of this in a spoiler, so far, because I knew that after I had posted it there could be taken as generationally directed. It is kind of written that way, though it was not the intention. I think a better way of looking at it is that I feel it is NOT a generational issue, but rather a cultural issue that is getting worse generationally. If that makes sense. Because this site is also a wealth of people from different parts of the world and different backgrounds/ages/experiences, I was curious as to what the opinion of anyone whom had read it would be. I therefore left it up, albeit as a spoiler. I do not personally feel as if I belong to any generation or group, as there are aspects of all that I simply do not relate to. I try to look at it abstractly to see all aspects, and there simply is no single thing that can be pinpointed and changed. It is a phenomena that is neither new to the world or humanity, but rather a cyclical occurrence that we are once again experiencing. I am annoyed by it because it effects me personally, daily. All we have is a small amount of influence that can be given occasionally, when accepted. I cannot control how people are externally influenced beyond my own influence, or how their lives will be changed by those other influences. I do go out of my way at work to encourage people to better themselves when they want to. If there is no personal desire it is pointless. I understand that in most cases I am a wealth of information and I share it freely. There is nothing that I know that I am not willing to teach anyone whom wants to know, because the more you know the better off you, me, and the world will be. This also includes help signing up for classes and homework assistance, occasionally what amounts to a free personal tutor. The 3 newest members of my department are all kids ( early 20s) who I personally encouraged and helped to take classes and get jobs in the department. There is also another kid who is now taking the same course and having trouble with 'Common Core' math......It is retarded, but guess what.....I'm figuring it out too while helping him with his homework on our lunch breaks. Outside of work I take a different approach to making the world better (hopefully) by doing what I can, which is donating both money to programs that help kids in the US and other parts of the world, as well as things like musical instruments to after-school programs. Only once have I had a school try to bill me because they said a brand new guitar I donated needed 'repaired' I do however work 50+ hours a week and if I do not log off now I'll be late. So for now, goodbye......and a forewarning, if there is a chapter 3 from me at may contain discussion about wood carving.
  12. Well, I wrote quite a bit more then I planned on. So, it is SPOILERIZED. For your viewing discretion. It contains much opinion based on personal experience, examining how modern internet culture is simply a reflection of the evolution of modern culture. My faith in humanity diminishes daily. @Alex Utopia....Hamburg has some of the best Graffiti I've seen anywhere in the world. I visited there in 2009 and that is the greatest impression that I was left with. Your Cities graffiti is ART.
  13. I have not seen this one yet, but on the lines of funniness, imagine if Jack had Barry as a follower. It would ether be aweful, or I would actually die laughing.
  14. Decided to build my sister a new pc as a gift. Decided to try some AMD stuff this time, so went with FX6300 cooled by an H75aio, 8gb mem and a single R9 380. Not spectacular, but ok for 1080p. It's allot better then what she has.

Used an EVGA psu and it was d.o.a.

That's the first time that's happened. I found a capacitor that had a pin loose, so re-soldered it and spent the last few hours setting up drivers and fan profiles, etc. My mind is now numb.

  15. So, when Gopher used the phrase "Serious Donkeys" yesterday while streaming, I nearly died laughing, and then I though about all the times he's said 'That will end up on a shirt' about other things. Which led to the Minions Edition "Serious Donkeys" leather jacket for Fallout 4. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14276/? If it is not approved of I will remove it.... Sorry for no pic. I have no space to add images.
